President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has banned government officials from acquiring state vehicles that are more than three years old.
Addressing journalists Monday, the President stated that the practice where government appointees are allowed to purchase vehicles allocated to them when leaving office is no more in place.
The president’s comment comes after the brouhaha over some state vehicles that were declared missing after the NPP administration took over from the erstwhile NDC government.
It was revealed that some previous officials under the Mahama-led administration were allowed to acquire their state vehicles before the NDC government handed over power.
The president in his brief press conference at the Peduase Lodge also reiterated his government’s ban on purchasing of new vehicles by Ministries, Departments and Agencies due to the economic circumstances Ghana finds herself in at the moment.
The President stated that the three-day retreat at Peduase Lodge was to review the performance of his government since NPP took over power on January 7.
