The one week camp meeting organized by Agape New Testament Church -Teens Ministry christened S.W.A.G CAMP has made significant impact.
S.W.A.G is an abbreviation which stands for : S – Stay , W – Wide, A – Awake for G – God. The annual teens program of the Agape House Church is an avenue to train the teens to know the word of God, have personal encounter with God and an opportunity to fellowship together.
Yearly, the S.W.A.G Camp has a central theme which is given out in the form of revelation from God through the Teens Pastor. 2015 S.W.A.G Camp was “NO LIMIT” and this year 2016 was “OVER FLOW” with Biblical studies from Acts 1:8.
The one week camp meeting which involves a series of activities, Bible studies, Prayers and worship, A talk on social issues which has Bible connotation to our lives and sports.
Many of the participants share their testimonies after the camp meeting and has consistently been better.
This year I was in the camp not only as a volunteer but as a participant. From the commencement of the Camp till the closing ceremony came with wonderful experiences and great lessons worth sharing.
I must commend the resource personnel who touched on sensitive issues affecting the youth today and how the Bible is an effective guide to handle these issues.
Topics that were discussed during this year’s camp meeting were as follows: “CHOICES – How to make the right choice in life”, SAVINGS: Cultivating the habit of savings, COUNSELLING SESSION: Personal Grooming, How to develop a good prayer habit,What lies can do to you,How to handle peer pressure,The Holy Spirit and the youth and Every Young man and woman Battle”.
I can still imagine the morning and evening prayers, the morning exercise with my family”Mingle Mingle” an avenue to interact with each other and getting to really know one another in Christ Jesus, the worship session, the games and many others.
I can still recall the talent night where members displayed their talents through gospel music( singing, rapping) , poetry, acting, painting, teaching and preaching , playing of instruments among others was just remarkable.
Seeing the youth display such talents, with limited time and preparation but end up putting up splendid performance was just wonderful.
I just miss the carefully selected volunteers who were very helpful and friendly supporting the youth.
“Everyone has an ability. If you are good is sports , I might be good in preaching, or you might be good in playing instruments and the central focus is to glorify God for such talents”.
One of the most effective means to get the maximum participation of every teen at the camp was the groupings. Putting them into groups and allowing them to compete in diverse activities taking into consideration discipline, creativity, teamwork, punctuality, leadership, just to mention but few.
I won’t forget the Supremo group – I just love your coordination and team spirit to never give up “Can do spirit”.
SwagLords – I miss your dynamic and strategic display of your courage and confidence.
Shepherds – wow, these group were up to the task. Making remarkable submissions and taking part in all activities.
Stallions – well, with the consistency, teamwork and collaboration with one another was just on point. I miss your teasers – “stallions stallions, stallions stallions!!!”.
The various groups were phenomenal, creative and discipline. Keep it up ! “You are all blessed and highly favored”.
My observation from the three years of experience in the camp meeting among the teens shows significant improvement and has considerably impacted positively the lives of these wonderful youth. From diverse backgrounds, different schools, and coming together through Christ Jesus is just amazing.
The 2016 S.W.A.G Camp was the best camp meeting I have ever attended and still looking forward to experiencing even bigger and better ones.
Let’s get interactive on social media sharing your experience with youth camp meeting and it’s impact to your personal life.
