Ghanaian politician Otokunor’s take on Shatta Wale’s ‘Taking Over’

Some say there is life after politics, we rephrase and say ”there are other interests besides politics”.

Latest to give credence to this newly crafted notion is non-other than Peter Boamah Otukonor, deputy director of research for Ghana’s largest opposition party NDC.

The one time parliamentary aspirant for the Ablekuma Central Constituency took bytes off his facebook timeline to share his analysis and thoughts on “Taking over”, the latest wave commanding hit song from the award winning Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale which featured upcoming acts Adi Self, Captan and Joint 77.

The song which was released along with the visuals a little over a month ago has gone through various angles of deciphering and criticisms from pundits and industry players with many initially giving it a very slim chance of survival.

“Taking Over” song stands as the current hit song Ghana with a remarkable number of views on YouTube and this was Mr. Otukonor’s view on it posted on his facebook page on 24th April 2017.

”I listen and watched the video of Shatta Wale’s “Taking Over” the very day it was released.

I was very judgemental in rubbishing it, to the extent that I called a few friends to lament my worry over how Shatta may be playing too much with his carrier. And even added that, perhaps the #PonoBiom dis had affected him.

Four days later, I tried to check on the song again and it had 450,000 views on YouTube. “Wooooow”, I shouted in amazement. So I listened again, and it sounded better.

Two weeks later I listened to the song again and it sounded so amazing like I have never heard about it. And just continued like that. Today, #TakingOver is my ringtone. My 1st music ringtone since 2015.

Lesson:

Do not be too quick to judge.

Always allow for a double check.

Remember to give yourself and others a second chance.

Shatta is a phenomena #TakingOver”
