The Founder and President of Groupe Ideal, Nii Kotei Dzani has been named as the Best Entrepreneur for 2016.
It follows his contribution to Ghana’s economy through his business venture comprising thirteen subsidiaries.
Mr. Kotei Dzani was among thirty eight business managers honored at this year’s edition of the Ghana Entrepreneur and Corporate Executive Awards.
This year’s awards saw thirty-eight distinguished business managers honored for either leading corporate institutions or self-established ones.
Some of the Managers awarded as Corporate Executives were the CEO of MTN Ghana, Ebenezer Twum Asante, CEO of OmniBank, Philip Oti Mensah, Group CEO of CDH Financial Holdings, Emmanuel Adu-Sarkodie as well as CEO of Databank Group, Kojo Addae-Mensah.
Also, the entrepreneur award winners included; Founder and President of Groupe Ideal, Nii Kotei Dzani, CEO of Rigworld International Services, Dr. Kofi Amoa-Abban as well as Group President for McOttley Holdings, Richard Dugan.
Meanwhile six women, including Managing Director of Nestle Ghana; Freda Duplan, CEO of West Blue Valentina Mintah, CEO of HomeFoods production & cannery limited, Felicia Twumasi as well as CEO of Western Publications, Gina Blay were also honored as part of the distinguished entrepreneurs.
Speaking to Citi Business News, Nii KOtei Dzani had advised budding and other established entrepreneurs.
“Entrepreneurs do not really need capital to start their business and I am a living testimony of that. All the great entrepreneurs also have similar stories. We at Ideal started with an initial amount of 27,000 cedis but now we manage assets worth over 1 billion cedis,” he explained.
The Deputy Trade Minister, Carlos Ahenkorah also outlined some interventions by the government to propel entrepreneurial growth.
“What we intend to do is to improve the lot of entrepreneurs by introducing the industrial subcontracting exchange whereby the production of the SMEs will have a matching concept with the demands of large scale industries,” he stated.
Mr. Ahinkorah also hinted of plans to in the long term, initiate a business development authority and bank to support local SMEs to compete with imported products.
