My father’s death inspired ‘Nipa Hia Mmoa’ song – Minister OJ

Gospel musician, Michael Oware Sakyi, popularly known in Showbiz circles as OJ, has revealed that his father’s death motivated him to compose the song, ‘Nipa Hia Mmoa’.
The talented musician noted that he learnt a bitter lesson during his father’s burial that people should be celebrated before they die.
Speaking to Mavis Amanor on Asempa FM on the Ladies Time Show as the adorable personality of the day, OJ recalled that he had joined forces with his siblings to buy a car for their father but that benevolent gesture didn’t see the light of day.
The song, he noted, urges people to help the helpless and the needy before they die.

“Death motivated me to compose ‘Nipa Hia Mmoa’. Death gave me a lesson and a message… My father never bought a car so I and my siblings decided to buy him a car but two months before the time he died,” he narrated.
“The day he was laid to rest, I wished he chad driven the car for just five minutes but at the moment he couldn’t and I learnt a lesson that ‘help a person before he or she dies.’
“On the day of his burial, the family members were reading tributes and I was asking myself, ‘is my father listening to what they are reading? Why didn’t they tell him all these when he was alive?’” he added.
OJ urged that, “Pay me my last respect when I am alive and if you want to buy me a car, do it now and don’t wait till when I am dead. If I need to give my family a compliment, I will do it now whiles they are alive so they can hear it not when they are dead because we Africans spend more money on funerals rather than helping the needy.”
