It rained again ! May 9th 2017 mid-morning began with mild drizzling which reminded me of that sad day in the history of African football.
” May 9 disaster ” took the media months of series of discussions surrounding that horrific day . It rained and still cloudy out here in Accra .The myth surrounding this day is quite hopeful that such disaster or stampede should never happen in Ghana Football again .
Precious Life were lost ! I respectfully take of my hat , on my knees and pray for the souls of the departed on May 9th . Its being 16years as Ghana Football suffered such ill-timed incidence which has left scares in our heart as fans of Ghana Football . The Spite of fear at the Stadium in that ark rivalry Hearts and Kotoko (2 : 1) ” May 9 ” game caused us more sorrows beyond the depth of our hearts.
Let us all , not only as football loving individuals , but Ghanaians “conscientize” ourselves of the oneness and the peace sports promote which also teaches us tolerance, unity and love for one another.
As we commemorate the 16th anniversary ,even if you have no wreath to lay during this ceremony today at the Accra Sports Stadium, just take a minute and say a word of prayer for these departed souls.
