Gyan is still Black Stars captain – Kwesi Appiah

Head Coach of the Black Stars James Kwesi Appiah has stated that, Asamoah Gyan would be maintained as the captain of the team in his second stint as manager.
There have been several reports indicating that the newly confirmed Black Stars gaffer will strip off the captain’s arm band from Gyan.
But during Appiah’s unveiling as the next Black Stars coach on Tuesday at the head quarters of the Ghana Football Association, the coach known as the ‘silence killer’ said he will maintain Gyan as captain of the four-time African champions.

“Gyan is still my captain, unless Gyan is sick, then Ayew takes over if only he is available,” Appiah said.
Gyan who has already led Ghana to two Cup of Nations appearances and one FIFA World Cup, is currently the most capped Black Stars player of all time with 95 appearances.
The affable player currently holds the record as Ghana’s all time highest scorer with 48 goals.
