Quack abortion doctor in Bukom arrested for rape

A 41-year-old man identified as Godwin Dzadza has been arrested by police in Accra for performing illegal abortions, extorting monies, and raping patients in the process.

The suspect was apprehended by the La District Police Command after he kidnapped his latest victim, a 21-year-old lady at Chorkor, a suburb of Accra, raping her for four consecutive days for her inability to pay for the cost of the abortion.

Superintendent Oduro Amaning, the La District Police Command, explained that the victim, Josephine Grace Agyei, who lives at La, reported to police that she got pregnant in December 2016 and a friend recommended the suspect to her if she wanted to get rid of the pregnancy.

The doctor took her to his office at Bukom in Accra to perform the abortion. She told the suspect she did not have the full amount, and was asked to make a deposit, for which reason she gave her iPad to the suspect.

Later when the victim got the amount and called up Dzadza, he told her he was attending some meetings following which she ended up using the money.

After some time, the suspect called her to bring the money but she could not raise the amount and gave in to his demands to have sex with him as payment.

After the act, the suspect locked her up and had sex with her for four days. She was not allowed to take her bath during the period but the suspect provided her with food.

The suspect agreed to give her an amount of GHS400 but did not honour his promise, in addition to failing to return the lady’s iPad prompting her to report to the police.

When the suspect was invited by the police, he denied being a doctor and said he was a nurse yet could not provide the name of the health facility he worked at.

The police then proceeded to the suspect’s abode where some instruments used in the alleged practice were retrieved.

“You can imagine how many people this imposter has caused abortions for and the harm caused to them,” the commander added.

Superintendent Amaning cautioned the public against such miscreants and charged individuals to refrain from patronising the services of such imposters.
