NDC must re-organise, re-strategise for 2020 – Kofi Buah

The Member of Parliament for Ellembelle Constituency in the Western Region, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah has charged sympathisers of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to re-organise the rank and file of the party re-strategise in opposition and offer Ghanaians renewed confidence and hope ahead of 20-20 general elections.

The next elections in the country is three years away, but Mr Buah is of the view the NDC requires serious commitment from members and Ghanaians, particularly those who felt the positive impact of the eight years governance offered by the party in order to form the next government after 2020.

He said the party remains the surest alternative to the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and, therefore, elements within its fold must prepare adequately ahead of the next polls.

Addressing members of the Tertiary Institutional Networks of the NDC (TEIN) at University of Cape coast in the Central Region, Kofi Buah said the youth wing of NDC, which includes the various branches of TEIN across the country, holds the key to unlock the party’s next electoral fortunes
.
He said the future of the party hinges on how organised the youth are in order to position the party to make it attractive to the Ghanaian electorate.

“You can become the voices of hope for Ghana again. You are the eyes of the future. Together with your support, this country will move forward”.

The MP, who served in various capacities during the previous administration, explained that though the painful defeat suffered by the NDC is still hard to contain, the Ghanaian electorate, who gave the NPP the opportunity to govern, are keenly watching their performance.

“Ghanaians are just watching the NPP to self destruct and they will fall on the NDC again, because we believe in Ghana and have always considered Ghana first in our governance”.
According to him, the several promises the NPP made to influence the voting pattern to its favour in the 2016 general elections will soon expose the government. “Many of these promises are unrealistic and untenable,” he noted.

Consequently, he appealed to the rank and file of the party to work towards consolidating the support base of the NDC, and improve upon the party’s fortunes to make the next elections a done deal.

The chairman for the occasion, Prince B Koomson, who was enthused about the turnout, urged the students to rededicate themselves to activities of the party.

“Don’t feel any sense of embarrassment that the NDC is in opposition”
He called for unity of purpose among members, renewed sense of loyalty, saying all TEIN members ought to constantly respond positively to matters affecting the party.
