President tasks Ghana’s Ambassadors to drive home investments

According to the President, government has made it a policy to seek more private sector equity financing for its infrastructure projects “rather than the historic resort to borrowing and more borrowing that has resulting in the ballooning of our debt stock” and thus would need the support of its representatives abroad to drive the initiative.
“You are the chief promoters of Ghana’s commercial interest to the respective countries to which you are going. Promoting Ghana means working closely with our ministries and agencies at home whose role it is to generate investments in the country”, he added.
The President made these comments when he presented letters of credence to the first batch of eight Ambassadors to head Ghana’s mission abroad at the Flagstaff House last Friday.
The newly-appointed Ambassadors and High Commissioners are: Papa Owusu Ankomah, Ghana’s High Commissioner to United Kingdom; Ms Anna Bossman, Ghana’s Ambassador to France; Dr Adjei Barwuah, Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States of America; Mrs Gina Blay, Ghana’s Ambassador to Germany; Edward Boateng, Ghana’s Ambassador to China; Frederick Daniel Laryea, Ghana’s Ambassador to Cote d’Ivoire; Stephen Mahamudu Yakubu, Ghana’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco; and Alhaji Rashid Bawa, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria.




The President further charged them to preserve and promote the good image of the country.
“You have the onerous responsibility of preserving and promoting the image of the country whose reputation among the community of nations is high”. You represent a country that as a result of the commendable conduct of the Ghanaian people is regarded as one of the most stable on the continent which is a functioning democracy”.
He reminded the appointees of Ghana’s enviable position as one of the stable country’s on the continent with an enviable position as the beacon of democracy on the African continent.
“You are the most visible symbol of our country out there and in all your actions you must guard jealously our country’s image”.
The President reminded the Ambassadors of the responsibility placed on the government by the people of Ghana to solve the numerous challenges confronting country and to transform the economy into a prosperous one. To achieve this, he tasked the Ambassadors to be minded of the all government’s flagship aimed at bringing relief to the Ghanaian people and transforming the economy and to work relentlessly in achieving them.
Dr Adjei Barwuah thanked the President on behalf of his colleague ambassadors for investing confidence in them to represent the country and promised to deliver on their mandate.
“We go mindful of the massive support that the people of this country gave you and the promises you made to this country. We can assure you that we will deliver”.
