Political corruption: NDC, NPP not the same – NPP replies Rev Opuni

The perception held by General Secretary of Christian Council Ghana, Rev. Dr. Opuni Frimpong that all politicians in the country are the same is wrong, New Patriotic Party (NPP) Deputy General Secretary, Nana Obiri Boahen has replied.

“If an individual member of either National Democratic Congress (NDC) or NPP engages insulting behavior, you cannot conclude that every member of that political party insults”. He said.

The clergy man recently told journalists that politicians in the country are same irrespective of the party they belong claiming both the two leading political parties; NPP and NDC are potential criminals.

“What NDC and NPP are doing is not different from each other. They all insult, capable of stealing state monies…they can all kill so nobody should think one does good more than the other”, Rev.Dr. Opuni Frimpong is quoted to have stated.

But the Deputy General Secretary of the ruling NPP disagrees with the perception and comments made by the religious leader rising to the defense of the politicians.

“It is wrong to describe a scenario that we are all corrupt. Rev. Dr. Opuni Frimpong has gotten it wrong in thinking every member of a political party is corrupt” Nana Obiri Boahen disclosed on Sikka FM in Kumasi.

“I know corrupt elements in NDC but there is a group in the party which has come out to say those corrupt people in that party must be prosecuted by this NPP government”

“Their founder Jerry John Rawlings at Wa lately pointed out they lost elections because of corruption and greed. Can you therefore say everybody is corrupt in that party”, he quizzed

“How then do you conclude that all every politicians or members of NDC are corrupt …I disagree”. He fumed.

“The problem we have in this country is that we do not try to single out individuals and punish them. …the conclusion that every politician is corrupt is wrong”, he explained.
