The Suhum Municipal Police Command has launched a manhunt for Joshua Tei, a farmer who chopped off his girlfriend’s hand over cheating suspicions.
The incident occurred at about 7:30pm at Aponoapono, a farming community in the Suhum Municipality of the Eastern region .
The victim identified only as Patience has been hospitalized at the Suhum government hospital while the amputated hand has been put in the morgue .
Patience told the media she was in church when she stepped out to receive a phone call; unknowing to her, her boyfriend who had laid ambush monitoring her movement near the church, suddenly appeared from the bush, assaulted her and chopped off her hand which had the mobile phone, and took to his heels.
The victim said she shouted for help after which the congregants came to her aid and rushed her to the hospital amid profuse bleeding.
The severed hand which was dangling couldn’t be sutured and had to be amputated.
Information gathered by Starr News indicates that the suspect who lives in a different community, Tei Mensah, has for sometime now been accusing the victim of cheating on him.
