The Thirty-four suspects initially arrested after the lynching of Major Maxwell Mahama have been discharged by an Accra Central District Court.
The 34 suspects were discharged and rearrested to allow the Police consolidate the process and present one charge sheet for both the 34 suspects and 24 others arrested later.
According to Starr FM’s Wilberforce Asare, all the 58 suspects were arraigned Wednesday morning at the Accra Central District Court in connection with the ongoing murder trial of the late Major Maxwell Mahama.
All 58 suspects were transported to the court in two Police Black Maria vehicles and were protected by heavily armed Police officers and officers of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
The suspects were escorted in groups of five (5) to the District Court 3 presided over by Magistrate Ebenezer Kwaku Ansah.
Police Prosecutors led by DSP George Amegah said to the court that the Prosecution now has three separate charge sheets that they intend to consolidate so that all 58 accused persons can be presented to the court on one charge sheet.
In this regard the initial 34 suspects were discharged and re-arrested by the Police to pave way for the consolidation process.
