MANCHESTER UNITED TRANSFER NEWS: JOSÉ MOURINHO TARGET ‘TEMPTED’ BY OLD TRAFFORD MOVE

Monaco midfielder Fabinho is “tempted” by a move to Manchester United this summer, according to reports.

The 23-year-old midfielder was part of the Monaco team that won the Ligue 1 title last season and reached the semifinal of the Champions League, with Fabinho scoring 11 goals in 50 matches.

In an interview with Brazilian television channel Esporte Interativo, as quoted by the BBC, Fabinho said he would be interested in working with Jose Mourinho.
“Manchester United is a great team, and I would think about it,” he said. “If [Manchester United manager José] Mourinho invites me, it would be very tempting. But I would have to talk with my agent and Monaco to make the things right.”

Fabinho moved to Monaco permanently in 2015, having been on loan at the Stade Louis II in 2013 from Portuguese club Rio Ave.

He would become United’s second signing of the summer, after Swedish center-back Victor Lindelöf joined from Benfica for £31 million ($39 million).

Mourinho is looking to strengthen the core of his team at Old Trafford this summer as United prepares to compete for the Premier League title and in the Champions League next season.

He has given a list of targets to the club’s vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, which is believed to include a forward to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the team’s top scorer last season who was released in May.

Alvaro Morata, the Real Madrid striker, is among the reported targets. He scored 22 goals in 47 matches in all competitions last season.

Andrea Belotti, of Torino, has also been linked with a move to Old Trafford, and speculation about a sensational return of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid has also been rife amid allegations of tax evasion surrounding the Portuguese forward.
