10 feared dead in fatal Winneba accident

Ten people are feared dead in a gory accident on the Winneba – Cape Coast highway in the Central region Monday night around 7:30pm.
The accident occurred Monday night specifically at Okyereko in Gomoa West near Winneba.
Several others also sustained various degrees of injuries were rushed to the Winneba government hospital and the trauma and specialist centre for treatment.

Three vehicles – a Hyndai Grace commercial vehicle, a pickup and a Mercedes Benz – were involved in the accident.
According to an eyewitness, the Hyundai Grace vehicle which was on its way to Accra tried to overtake an articulated truck and in the process collided with the Mercedes Benz and later hit the Toyota pickup which was heading towards the Cape Coast side of the road.
The driver and mate of the Hyundai Grace as well as the driver of the Mercedez Benz lost their lives instantly with seven passengers from the Hyundai Grace also dying on the spot.
