Zlatan Ibrahimovic posts message to Manchester United fans as his contract expires

He had looked set to agree a second year before damaging his ACL in the Europa League semi-finals.

But he missed the end to the season, including the Europa League final, and has now been released by United.

And now he’s posted a message, claiming: “I came. I said. I conquered.”

Ibrahimovic is expected to be out with his ankle injury until January and has been linked with moves to America and back to Spain.

United are struggling to replace him and switched their attention to a more natural number nine following his injury.

Jose Mourinho had wanted Antoine Griezmann but has turned his attention to Alvaro Morata, who he hopes to make his marquee signing of the summer.

Express Sport understands Morata has told friends he’s set on a move and a deal with Madrid is done.

But United are still yet to confirm an agreement is in place, like they did with Victor Lindelof before announcing his arrival.

United were also linked with Romelu Lukaku, who looks set to join Chelsea, and Andrea Belotti but Torino are not keen on selling.

United have so far only signed Lindelof from Benfica but are trying to push through with deals with the transfer window officially opening today.
