Sunday’s Manchester United transfer rumours: Fabinho and Wayne Rooney

All the latest Manchester United transfer news and rumours from across the British and European press on Sunday, July 2.

Monaco have rejected a £40m bid from Paris Saint-Germain for Manchester United target Fabinho, according to L’Equipe.

It is reported that Monaco are desperate not to sell to their Ligue 1 rivals.
However, the 23-year-old is believed to be keen on making a move to PSG and it has been reported that he has already agreed personal terms on a deal.

Wayne Rooney could stay at Manchester United for another season, according to the Sun on Sunday.
The striker has a year left on his deal and United are reportedly prepared to give him a “golden goodbye” of around £10m.

However, it is claimed Rooney can trigger a further 12-month option on his £300,000-a-week salary and is not agitating for a move.

After reports that Jose Mourinho was becoming frustrated by Manchester United’s lack of transfer activity, the Manchester Evening News have explained why the club are struggling to complete transfers early.

They say United “are not dormant” and are understood to be working on deals for Alvaro Morata, Nemanja Matic and Ivan Perisic.

Apparently Antonie Griezmann’s decision to stay at Atletico Madrid rather than move to Old Trafford has “seriously impacted” United’s preparations.
