Dr. Aggrey Darko takes on government contractors for shoddy work

Political Science Lecturer with the University of Ghana (UG), Dr. Evans Aggrey Darko has bemoaned the road network in the country taking a swipe at government contractors for such shoddy work.

“I was on a visit to the second largest city, Kumasi specifically at a place called Adoato. I was appalled by the nature of road network. I realized that we need to sit up as a county”.

“Even if you look at roundabouts leading to Kumasi most of them are like roundabouts in my hometown Agona Nyakrom. It comes nowhere near in terms of size and importance I wonder as a political scientist”, Dr. Evans Aggrey Darko bemoaned.




“Who are these engineers who designed these roads and what are their capabilities and what were they thinking “, he asked on the Republic Day Edition of Kumasi-based Ultimate FM’s morning show hosted by Lamtam Papanko.

“If you look at this roundabouts linking Kumasi to other regions, they are death traps to almost all of us”, he pointed out during telephone interview on the show.

Dr. Evans Aggrey Darko also expressed worry about the poor sanitation problems in the metropolis urging the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly to ensure its sanitation by-laws are working effectively to bring back the former status as the Garden City of West Africa.

“I have done research in Tarkwa Maakro, Odeneho Kwadaso, Asawase, Adum and other areas. I asked myself if Kumasi is still the Garden City we know”. He quizzed.
