Jose Mourinho furious with Ed Woodward’s trip to watch British and Irish Lions

JOSE MOURINHO does not appear to be happy with Manchester United chief executive Ed Woodward.
Woodward is said to be in New Zealand watching the British and Irish Lions taking on the All Blacks.

And according to Yahoo Sport, his trip has left Mourinho angry due to Manchester United’s lack of business in the transfer market while he’s been away.

Mourinho is desperate to strengthen his squad this summer as he prepares for United’s return to the Champions League next season.

The Red Devils manager handed Woodward his summer wishlist months ago and is said to have wanted his targets signed in time for pre-season.
But United have so far only recruited Swedish centre-half Victor Lindelof from Benfica in a £30.7million deal.

Mourinho’s side kick off their pre-season campaign next Monday as they prepare for their tour of America – leaving Woodward less than a week to get new signings over the line.

A new striker is a priority for United after they let last season’s top goalscorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic leave this summer.
The Red Devils appear to be closing in on Real Madrid hitman Alvaro Morata, who is expected to cost around £70m.

While Mourinho is expected to reunite with Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic as United pursue a £40m deal for the Serbian.

In May Mourinho said: “Ed Woodward has my list, what I want, what I would like for more than two months.

“So now it’s up to him and the owners.”
