Manchester United news and transfer rumours LIVE Nainggolan and Lukaku updates

It’s weeks since the season ended but it’s still the same familiar names that are being linked with a move to Manchester United.

As it stands Victor Lindelof will be the only new face heading off on pre-season tour at the weekend with United failing to secure any of their other transfer targets.

But the latest reports suggest that United could come to an agreement with Real Madrid for Alvaro Morata before the weekend.

Yesterday Morata’s father and agent headed to the Bernabeu for crunch talks and it is believed that United are hopeful of completing the signing this week.

In other transfer gossip news, Ivan Perisic is reportedly going to have talks with Inter Milan when he returns to training next week.

Reports in Italy state he is going for force through a United move.

United ‘interested’ in Senegalese youngster

Manchester United are interested in Sarpsborg youngster Krepin Diatta, according to the player’s agent Youssoupha Fall.

I’ve spoken to Manchester United’s scout twice. First under the U20 World Cup, and again after the (league) game against Brann, he told VG.

At the moment there is nothing concrete, but they like Krepin and are keeping close tabs on him.

We have no rush, but if he leaves Sarpsborg, Diatta will move to a club that’s playing in the Champions League.

Alvaro Arbeloa hails Mourinho

I think the bravest person I’ve met in football is Mourinho, he told Spanish radio station Onda Cero.

He has to be happy with the year he’s had at [Manchester] United.

Ex-United apprentice Alan Tate announces testimonial

I had some great times at Old Trafford as an apprentice and a young professional and it proved the perfect grounding for me to develop my career at Swansea, he said.

I’m proud I managed to establish a strong bond with the fans. They have always supported me and I hope I have given them plenty in return. There were probably a lot better footballers than me who have worn the Swans shirt over the years, but I’d like to think that there have been few who tried harder.

I found over the years that if they can see you giving 100 per cent then that’s good enough for them.

Although I am a Sunderland lad, Swansea has become my home now and I’m sure it will be a great night at the Liberty on August 9.

A Swansea City legends side will take on a Manchester United legends side managed by Darren Fletcher at the Liberty Stadium on Wednesday, August 9.

More Mourinho unhappiness

James Cooper follows up on recent reports regarding the United manager’s frustration.

nited face Champions League dilemma if David de Gea stays

Having previously worked with some quality No.2 goalkeepers, including Carlo Cudicini, Francesco Toldo, Iker Casillas and Petr Cech, Mourinho has been blown away by the dynamic at United.

Romero and De Gea, two international goalkeepers with bucketloads of experience, have pushed each other yet remained close friends.

Raiola wants Lukaku to go to United?

This is interesting because it was Raiola who told Pogba to join United last year when he was keener to link up with Zidane at Madrid.

As Askam says, it could well be a bargaining ploy.

It’s perhaps understandable Raiola would want Lukaku to move to United after the amount of money he allegedly made from the Pogba deal.

Fabinho back in training

Still a Monaco player.

Fabinho’s been quiet since his loquacious week last month but it wouldn’t be a surprise if more quotes emerge from the Principality.

United’s Lukaku history

Louis van Gaal showed interest in signing Lukaku a year after he joined Everton for £28m. In a summer where United considered signing a striker, they eventually decided to trust Wayne Rooney, which was obviously a mistake.

United had no intention of signing Lukaku last year but his relationship with Mourinho is fine now and United touched base with Everton about the possibility of signing him.

A fanciful Rooney-Lukaku swap deal has been explored, but that would be difficult to pull off on both sides. Everton want £100m for Lukaku and even if United met that asking price they would still probably not meet Rooney’s wage demands (unless they’re relaxed).

The timing of Lukaku posing with a friend in America who was wearing a United shirt now feels more relevant. It had Pogba’s fingerprints all over it, given how he teased on Instagram last year. He is also holidaying with Lukaku.

Fellaini talks new signings

He told the club website:

“When the new players come it’s good to be together and get to know each other – it’s important. We train together every day, sometimes twice, and if the manager gives us an afternoon free we can do some things together. It’s always a good experience for everyone.”

United ‘talking to Everton about Lukaku’

Buried in Paul Joyce’s Rooney story is this:

“The situation has been discussed over the past week and the clubs have also been talking about Romelu Lukaku, who is wanted by both United.”

The M.E.N. alluded to the possibility – however far-fetched – of a Rooney/Lukaku swap deal earlier this year and United’s priority now is Alvaro Morata. Chelsea are also likelier to re-sign Lukaku.

United’s attack does need to be sharpened beyond the addition of the Spaniard but two No.9s in a Mourinho team seems an unrealistic prospect. Particularly when they could cost a combined £170m.

Ideally, Mourinho would have supplemented Ibrahimovic with Griezmann.

Another goalkeeper signs United contract

Theo Richardson, who was on trial last year, is also believed to have signed a new contract with the U23s.

Keane didn’t reject United

The M.E.N. wrote recently 2011 Youth Cup winner Michael Keane was expected to join Everton after United passed on re-signing him, yet some outlets have depicted his imminent move as a coup for The Toffees, as if they have beaten United to a player.

Keane was so desperate to return to United he appeared in the Old Trafford directors’ box against Chelsea in April and a week later a United fan claimed Keane told her after the Burnley game he was hopeful of returning to the club. Keane was also pictured with Jesse Lingard on holiday in Dubai.

Victor Lindelof’s move all but ended United’s interest in Keane and they are not going to have sleepless nights about him moving to Merseyside. If anything, it’s pride at an academy graduate forging an impressive career outside M16. Keane was not a priority signing, which would have helped him make up his mind to join Everton.
