Chelsea lodge £22m offer for Real Madrid defender Danilo – report

CHELSEA have made a £22million offer for Real Madrid ace Danilo, according to reports.
Antonio Conte is keen to bolster his defensive line this summer as he prepares for a hectic schedule next season with the return of Champions League football.

And it seems right-back is an area the Italian wants to improve to provide competition for Cesar Azpilicueta and wing-back Victor Moses.

Reports emerged last week suggesting Conte is keen on a move for Madrid’s Danilo.

And Spanish publication Don Balon claim the Blues have now put a £22m offer on the table to tempt Madrid into selling.
Juventus are also said to be keen on signing the 25-year-old and their initial £17.5m bid was swiftly rejected by Los Blancos.

Don Balon claim Madrid president Florentino Perez wants to recover most of the £28m they paid to sign him from Porto in 2015.

Danilo is reportedly keen to leave after falling down the pecking order with Dani Carvajal set to be Zinedine Zidane’s first choice right-back next term.

And the Brazil international knows he needs regular football elsewhere if he is to make the squad for the 2018 Russia World Cup.
Danilo boasts two Champions Leagues, one Liga title, one UEFA Super Cup, and one FIFA Club World Cup to his name since joining Madrid.

But he has failed to hit the heights expected in the capital, making 41 La Liga appearances since his arrival.

Danilo still has four years left to run on his contract with Madrid but the European champions look set to cash in on him if Chelsea or Juventus meet their asking price.
