Legendary hip life artiste Obrafuor exchanged his destiny, music career and fame with rapper Sarkodie when he used certain lyrics in the songs In This Life and Saa Okodie No, radio presenter and host of Ayekoo Ayekoo on Accra100.5FM Nana Romeo has said.
According to Nana Romeo, in the In This Life video, Obrafuor was seen handing over his crown to Sarkodie, signifying the transfer of his fame and the fact that Sarkodie was taking over from him.
He further believed Obrafuor exchanged his destiny further with Sarkodie in the song Saa Okodie No, released on 13 January 2012. In the song, Obrafuor lauded Sarkodie by saying he [Sarkodie] was gifted with rap at birth, therefore, he [Obrafuor] would not be sad if he retired from music because Sarkodie would be his successor.
Nana Romeo is of the opinion that Obrafuor made a mistake by using such lyrics, which have affected him spiritually and in reality.
He said Obrafuor has from the time of singing on that Saa Okodie No been struggling to sustain his fame while Sarkodie has been achieving one feat after the other.
The radio presenter noted that after Sarkodie handed his crown over to Sarkodie, the Baby hitmaker has gone on to win Best International Act Africa at the 2012 BET Awards, ranked 19th Most Influential Ghanaian by ETV Ghana in 2015, ranked sixth on MTV Base Hottest African MCs in 2014 whilst Obrafuor on the other hand finds it difficult to receive nominations at the Ghana Music Awards in recent times.
