Romelu Lukaku rejects last-minute Chelsea move and will undergo Man Utd medical today

ROMELU LUKAKU rejected Chelsea’s late bid and will undergo a medical today before signing for Manchester United.
Chelsea believed they had a deal to sign Lukaku in place before Manchester United’s stunning move to agree a fee with Everton.

Antonio Conte wanted Lukaku to replace Diego Costa this summer but must now look at other options.

United moved quickly and it emerged they had made a bid on Thursday.

Chelsea then made a move to match United’s bid last night, but were unwilling to pay the huge agent fees United will.

And today United confirmed an agreement for a £75m deal was in place.
Lukaku, 24, is in Los Angeles with Paul Pogba, who welcomed the Everton striker to his new club on Instagram earlier today.

And the Manchester Evening News report that Lukaku resisted a late move from Chelsea and will have his United medical today.

The United squad fly out to LA on Sunday to begin pre-season and Lukaku will meet up with his team-mates and could face LA Galaxy on July 15.

He will replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic as United’s main striker and will be charged with spearheading Jose Mourinho’s new-look side.
Mourinho’s only signing so far this summer is Victor Lindelof, but Lukaku will join him in the next 48 hours and United are still hopeful of deals for a midfielder and a winger.

Lukaku scored 25 Premier League goals last term and is set to sign a five-year deal worth £250,000 a week.

“Manchester United is delighted to announce a fee has been agreed with Everton for the transfer of Romelu Lukaku, subject to a medical & personal terms,” the United statement read this morning.

Chelsea now look set to turn their attention to Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, who was thought to be close to a United move originally, with Costa still set to leave.
