James Rodriguez to Man Utd: Adidas want Real Madrid star to wear No10 next season – report

ADIDAS are behind Manchester United’s transfer pursuit of Real Madrid star James Rodriguez, according to reports in Spain.
Manchester United turned down the chance to sign Real Madrid star Rodriguez in 2010 and 2013 respectively.

But, with Jose Mourinho now in charge, the Red Devils are determined to snap up the Colombia international.

Express Sport understands United are determined to land the player and will accelerate their efforts to do so after allowing club captain Wayne Rooney to rejoin Everton.

They have left his No10 shirt vacant, with new summer signing Romelu Lukaku instead opting to take the No9 shirt previously worn by Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
And Spanish outlet Diario Gol claim the club’s shirt sponsors, Adidas, desperately want Rodriguez to take it.

The 25-year-old looks set to leave the Bernabeu after making just 13 league starts under Zinedine Zidane last season.

Zidane’s decision to marginalise Rodriguez comes just three years after the club splurged out £60million to sign him from Monaco.

United are determined to rescue him from his Real nightmare, and the report says Adidas love the idea of seeing Rodriguez donning his usual No10 in their colours.
It adds that Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are expected to launch a bid for him.

However, Carlo Ancelotti’s side cannot offer him the same sort of game time that United can.

The form of veteran Arjen Robben means he remains their main man and the arrival of Rodriguez would not change that, regardless of how well he worked under Ancelotti in the past.
