REAL MADRID TRANSFER NEWS LIVE UPDATES: Latest on Alvaro Morata, Gareth Bale and more
Tuesday July 11
13:00: Bayern Munich have completed the signing of Real Madrid star James Rodriguez.
The Colombia international, who was frequently linked with Chelsea and Manchester United, has signed a two-year loan deal at the Allianz Arena.
While Bayern also have the option to make the deal permanent.
“We are very happy to have completed this transfer,” Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said in a statement. “Signing James Rodriguez was the big wish of our coach Carlo (Ancelotti) after they worked successfully together in Madrid.”
10:50: Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola has urged Antonio Conte to sign Torino star Andrea Belotti ahead of Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.
Express Sport understands Morata told close friends he expected to be at Old Trafford next season but their decision to sign Romelu Lukaku means that a deal is now dead in the water.
But despite having a clear path to Morata’s signature, Zola told Chelsea to make Belotti their No.1 target.
He told talkSPORT: “To be honest, I was thinking Chelsea should go for Andrea Belotti in Italy.
“I thought that considering the type of qualities Costa has, that Belotti was the perfect fit.
“Morata is a little bit different, he’s more of a finesse player. He hasn’t got the presence of a player like Costa in the box. He’s a different player, he brings other qualities.”
10.08: Dani Ceballos has signed a six-year deal at Real Madrid after undergoing a medical, according to AS.
Madrid will announce the signing this week after agreeing a fee with Real Betis.
Real Betis president Angel Haro has admitted a deal is close.
“Ceballos rejected a new contract offer from Betis,” he told AS.
“He has an agreement with Madrid and we are all talking at the moment. It will be resolved in the coming days or hours.”
09:35: Real Madrid’s new signing Theo Hernandez says he’s eager to learn from the best players in the world.
Hernandez has officially joined Real from city rivals Atletico Madrid, and was unveiled at the Bernabeu yesterday.
Liverpool and Real’s arch rivals Barcelona were both reportedly chasing the player, but the Champions League and LaLiga champions won the battle.
Hernandez said: “I am very happy to be here, the best club in the world, and I have come here to learn from the best players in the world.
“I am going to follow their footsteps and try to improve each day.”
08:05: Liverpool are interested in signing Atletico Madrid striker Angel Correa.
Jurgen Klopp has already seen attacking duo Mohamed Salah and Dominic Solanke arrive at Anfield this summer – but wants further additions ahead of their Champions League campaign.
French publication FootMercato claim Liverpool have already held preliminary discussions about the Argentine, and tabled a five-year contract offer worth £47,000 a week.
However, the report continues to state that Correa, 22, wants £76,000 a week to leave Atletico.
06:30: Gareth Bale could leave Real Madrid if they sign Kylian Mbappe from Monaco.
Diario Gol claim the Wales international is Zinedine Zidane’s pick to be sold if the teenager arrives.
The Real manager wants to keep both Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.
And that could lead to Bale leaving the Bernabeu.
05:30: So, Alvaro Morata.
Spanish outlet Diario Madridista claim Real Madrid are hopeful of fending off interest from Chelsea for his signature.
They will sit down for talks with the player this week where Zinedine Zidane will tell him he remains central to their plans.
Whether or not it is enough to stop him pursuing a new challenge elsewhere, however, remains to be seen.
05:15: Good morning and welcome to Express Sport’s LIVE Real Madrid transfer blog.
Los Blancos are looking to build on their La Liga and Champions League winning season last term.
However, two of their biggest stars are being linked with moves away.
Alvaro Morata remains in-demand, while Gareth Bale could leave if Kylian Mbappe is signed.
