Agbeko is “cursed” – Former GBA Boss

The former Ghana Boxing Authority President, Samir Captan says Joseph Agbeko’s recent problems are spiritual, claiming that the former IBF Bantamweight champion could be under a “curse.”
The 37-year-old boxer over the past three years has had two bouts against Colombian Luiz Melendes, Tanzanian Haji Juma organized by his own promotional syndicate, Fresh King Entertainment, postponed due to financial reasons.
The proposed IBF international bantamweight title fight against Kenyan Otieno on June 30, which would have been the Ghanaian’s first fight of the year, was cancelled by the GBA after Fresh King Entertainment failed to provide the purse.

“Agbeko is a fine boxer but there is a spiritual problem that is hampering his progress. This is my personal observation and I am not just saying this out of the vacuum,” he told Starr FM Sports.
“He has stepped on a lot of toes…when you step on peoples toes and you invade into peoples’ territory without them inviting you, they will curse you,” he added.
Mr. Captan’s claims come after current GBA Boss Peter Zwennes labeled Agbeko as a fraudulent boxer.
Mr. Captan adds that the fraudulent conducts of Agbeko is affecting his career both as a boxer and a promoter.
The Ghana Boxing Authority has decided to summon Agbeko to a meeting later this week to explain the reasons behind his failure to comply with the rules of the nation’s boxing governing body in the organization of the fight against Nick Otieno.
The Ghanaian boxer who has not been in the ring since October 2016, has secured 31 wins and 5 losses in 36 career bouts.
