1 feared dead in Asante Kotoko team bus crash

At least one person is reported dead as the team bus of Ghana giants Asante Kotoko rammed into a stationary truck at Nkawkaw in the Eastern region Wednesday.
The deceased is reported to be an official of the club.
The captain of the Porcupine Warriors Amos Frimpong, Baba Mahama and defender Ahmed Adams sustained severe injuries and have been rushed to the Holy Family Hospital at Nkawkaw for treatment.
The coach Steven Pollack and his assistant Godwin Ablordey were trapped in the mangled bus and took close to an hour for fire personnel and the police to cut the bus to rescue them.

Most of the players, according to Agoo FM’s Y. Yeboah, sustained injuries on the forehead and other parts of their bodies.
“The accident occurred around 9:45pm when the team bus ran into a stationary vehicle. Personnel on the bus are generally fine. Some are however receiving treatment at the Holy Family Hospital, Nkawkaw.
“With great difficulty, Management is entreating supporters of the club and the general public to stay calm and pray for our personnel. A full statement on the incident will be issued in due course,” the club said on its official website during the wee hours of Thursday.
The team was returning to their Kumasi base after a mid-week game against Inter Allies in Accra. They lost 1-0.
