Kotoko bus crash: Driver’s mate confirmed dead

The driver’s mate of the Kia Rhino that the Asante Kotoko Football Club team bus run into has also been confirmed dead.

His death brings to two the number of causalities recorded in the fatal crash that occurred on Wednesday night at Nkawkaw in the Eastern region after earlier confirmation of the death of Thomas Obeng Asare, the equipment officer.

Their bodies have been deposited at the Holy Trinity mortuary in Nkawkaw.

Ashitey Ollenu, Evans Quao, Michael Akuffu, Awudu Nafiu, Osei Agyemang, Godwin Ablodey, Baba Mahama, Ahmed Adams and Isaac Amoako also suffered various degrees of injuries.

The Porcupine Warriors had been dealt a huge blow after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Inter Allies in the league and it turned worse after the bus heading to Kumasi from Accra encountered the unfortunate incident.

Almost players and management members on board the Yuntong suffered injuries as result and were rushed to the Holy Family Hospital for treatment.

Most of them have been referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital except four who are still on admission at the facility in Nkawkaw

The team was returning to Kumasi with the players for preparation ahead of another clash with arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak plunged into a slow moving vehicle resulting the accident.
