Man Utd keeper David De Gea wants to join Real Madrid, Jorge Mendes pushing move through

MANCHESTER UNITED goalkeeper David De Gea wants to join Real Madrid this summer, according to reports in Spain.
Real Madrid are long-term admirers of De Gea, having nearly signed him in 2015 only for the £29million deal to collapse late on due to paperwork problems.

But Spanish transfer outlet Don Balon claim Real Madrid will try again this summer, with club president Florentino Perez desperate to land the Spain No 1.

De Gea is reportedly refusing to miss out on a move to the Bernabeu and is said to have told his agent Jorge Mendes to get the deal done.

Don Balon add that Perez will look to offload first-choice goalkeeper Keylor Navas to Paris Saint-Germain should Real sign De Gea.
De Gea has won seven honours since joining Manchester United from Atletico Madrid in 2011 and helped Jose Mourinho to a Europa League and EFL Cup double last season.

And Mourinho recently admitted he plans on keeping the 26-year-old shot-stopper at Old Trafford next term.

“David is top in the world and obviously we want to keep the top in the world,” Mourinho said.
The Red Devils boss believes he’s well stocked with goalkeepers, with Sergio Romero and Joel Pereira also at his disposal.

“We have the Argentina national goalkeeper and the Spanish national goalkeeper – two of the best national teams in the world,” Mourinho said.

“There is a good tradition of goalkeepers in both countries. We have these two guys. They are phenomenal.

“And I keep saying the Portuguese kid [Pereira] is a very good goalkeeper. So in relation to that, we are in safe gloves.”
