Manchester City to sign Brazilian teenage star Douglas Luiz from Vasco da Gama

Manchester City have agreed a deal with Brazilian club Vasco da Gama to sign highly-rated teenage midfielder Douglas Luiz for £10.7 million.

City have been tracking Luiz since last year and have now moved to secure the 19-year-old’s services.




It is expected that Luiz will initially be loaned out, possibly to Spanish club Girona in whom City are about to acquire a near 50 per cent stake, rather than immediately join Pep Guardiola’s first team squad.
A Brazil Under-20 international, Luiz is tipped for a bright future and is regarded as one of the country’s most promising young talents alongside City striker Gabriel Jesus.
