I never said I’m disappointed in Akufo Addo – Ken Agyepong

I never said I’m disappointed in Akufo Addo – Ken Agyepong

Outspoken New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Assin Central Constituency in the Central Region has denied media reports that he is disappointed in President Akufo-Addo for sidelining the Central Region in his appointments.

Ken Agyapong while addressing the Central Regional Delegates Conference of the NPP on Sunday called on the people of the region to rise up and fight for what is due them as they played a huge role in realising the party’s victory in the last elections.

According to him, the worst of such bad treatment is the recent appointment of Ambassadors with no person appointed from the Central Region.

“If we don’t speak up and say the truth the NPP will suffer. We secured 19 seats in this region during December 2016 election, the party’s reason for choosing this region for the upcoming National Delegates Conference is the fact that this area played a key role in ensuring victory. But you see, when it came to making appointments, see how it’s been done. Don’t let us be afraid to speak the truth which will help the party stay on the right course,” he is quoted as saying.

But Kennedy Agyepong speaking on Adom TV’s Morning Show “Badwam” Tuesday said he only voiced out the frustrations and disappointments of the supporters of the NPP.

According to him, the criticisms are not ill-intended but to make sure the President and the NPP deliver on its mandate to Ghanaians.

“I never said I’m disappointed in Nana Addo as it has been speculated in the media. Yes, I made some remarks in the Central Region but I voiced out the frustrations and worries of the supporters who cannot speak for themselves.

“I’m only advising Nana Addo not to listen to bad advice from some elements of the party but act on his own as the President of the country. People should stop misquoting me and tagging me as a bad person because I never said I’m disappointed in Nana Addo” he stressed.

Ken Agyapong indicated that Ghanaians will not renew the mandate of the NPP government come 2020 if the party fails to address their needs.

He opined that a lot of things are not in the right place in the 6-month old government, and only criticisms will cause all government appointees to be conscious of their actions.

He, however, maintained that none of the ambassadors recently appointed came from the Central Region which he said, is not a good sign.

Mr. Agyepong called on the people of the region to rise up and fight for what is due them as they played a huge role in the victory of the NPP.
