Nemanja Matic to Man Utd: Chelsea star close to exit after pre-season snub

NEMANJA MATIC has been left out of Chelsea’s pre-season tour to China amid speculation of a potential move to Manchester United.
The Serbian is widely expected to leave the Blues this summer and he is keen on a reunion with Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.

Having already made two signings, Mourinho is now prioritising the signing of a defensive midfielder with Matic top of his wishlist.

United have been chasing Matic for months but a deal has stalled in recent weeks with the Blues playing hardball.




However, news of Matic being left out of the 25-man squad travelling to Beijing is a clear indication the 28-year-old’s future is all but over in west London.
Chelsea confirmed the names of those that have made the trip to the Far East, ahead of their match with Arsenal on Saturday, on their website but have no mention or explanation of Matic’s absence.

Matic remaining in England could make it easier for United to get a deal over the line.

Mourinho has so far remained quiet on United’s pursuit of his former player and refused to give any updates last week following their 5-2 win over LA Galaxy.
“I can’t say any word about a player who is a Chelsea player, it’s the same with [Alvaro] Morata, we have to respect the player, the club, the owner, the manager,” he said.

“I don’t want to be disrespectful, we don’t have our door closed, we are not happy with just [Romelu] Lukaku and [Victor] Lindelof.

“We need more, we wanted four, so I would say 50 per cent of the job is done but I don’t want to say that because everything is so difficult.”
