Inter Milan boss promises Ivan Perisic will play a lot on tour despite Man Utd interest

IVAN PERISIC will play more minutes than any of his team-mates on Inter Milan’s pre-season tour of the Far East – despite Manchester United’s interest in the winger.

Inter insist they do not want to sell Perisic as United push for a summer deal.

The Croatia international has gone on Inter’s trip to China and Singapore.

He missed Inter’s friendly with Nurnburg in the Alpine town of Bruneck last week due to a dental appointment.

And manager Luciano Spalletti says the 28-year-old will therefore get more game time on tour.

“He’ll play, and given that he didn’t play the friendly matches in Brunico he’ll play more than the others,” Spalletti said in a press conference.

Asked about incoming transfers, the former Roma coach said: “Up until now it hasn’t been an easy market, but I’m happy with the commitment of the directors.

“We don’t have to do things quickly, because we have a quality squad.”

Inter have struggled to land their top targets this summer, despite the investment of new Chinese owners who have money to spend.

Their rivals AC Milan, meanwhile, have already splashed out over £100m on new players.

Inter want at least £50m for Perisic and United manager Jose Mourinho has also conceded he is frustrated with how the transfer window has gone.

Having initially earmarked four players to sign this summer, the Red Devils manager says that may be reduced to three.

“We always want more. We always feel there is room to improve, and I cannot say that I am happy with our transfer window,” Mourinho said.

“What I can also say is that it is a difficult transfer window and I don’t blame anyone – it is just a reality of things.

“The market is going in such a direction that many players are difficult to get, not to say impossible.

“Every club is powerful and they don’t want to sell or their demands are really high, so the market is difficult.”
