I have spent over $1million on charitable projects in Ghana – Gyan

The captain of the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan is known for living an extravagant lifestyle and in the past confessed to splurging $20,000 on a baby shark.

The former Shanghai SIPG forward also owns a fleet of luxurious vehicles and a $3 million mansion at Weija.

However, he is also a humanitarian at heart with his Asamoah Gyan Foundation carrying out a number of charitable projects in the country.




Gyan in an address at the unveiling of his latest project, the Asamoah Gyan Sports Complex disclosed that he has spent GH? 5million ($1,133,788.35) on such projects.

He also listed a vast array of projects across various sectors of the economy including health, education and infrastructure that he has undertaken in the country.

“Over the past five years, my foundation, the Asamoah Gyan Foundation has touched the lives of many Ghanaian in various ways and I have undertaken a large number of projects,” Gyan said in an address at the unveiling of GHC 700,000 AstroTurf project on the campus of the Accra Academy school.

“We restored the water pumping system in Wenchi, we built a mechanised borehole at Hohoe Saint Francis Teachers Training College. We have donated equipment to the Ridge Hospital, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, the Mamprobi Hospital and the Children’s Hospital Pampaso, Kumasi.

“We have supported students through sports, supported the Heart Centre at Korle Bu, registered the Suhim Blind Association of the National Health Insurance Scheme and provided them with walking sticks and talking watches.



“Again, we have supported and still support students with scholarships at all levels of education to the Master’s level. By God’s grace with the support of Ghanaians, we have spent GH? 5 million of charitable projects and employed over 200 through my companies,” the Kayserispor striker stressed.
