Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho puts pressure on Ed Woodward to secure more transfers

JOSE MOURINHO remains frustrated with Manchester United’s transfer window activity – and has upped the pressure on Ed Woodward to get more deals done.
The United boss saw new-boy Romelu Lukaku score his second goal for the club as they beat rivals Manchester City 2-0 in Houston.
And Lukaku was joined by Marcus Rasford on the scoresheet.

But Mourinho is desperate to bolster his squad before the start of the season and wants two more men in the door before the end of August.

He has signed Lukaku for £75m and Victor Lindelof for £30 but is still hoping to seal a deal for Ivan Perisic and has shown interest in Eric Dier, Nemanja Matic and Marco Verratti.

And, when asked if any of the deals are close, Mourinho said: “I don’t know, I don’t know. I’m not in control of that.
“The credit of Lukaku and Victor Lindelof to be here on time, the credit is not mine, it is Ed Woodward’s and I thank him for that fantastic work to bring us two very important players.

“But for us but we need a bit more.

“When you see the other teams in the Premier League, the way they get players and good players and you see the champions buy three fantastic, experienced players, City go to the market, Liverpool too and West Ham gets Joe Hart, Chicharito and Arnautovic, then wow.

“They play to win the Premier League too, so the teams are fantastic in the market and I’m waiting for a bit more.
“Other teams can do it also, it is not a criticism or not understanding the difficulty of the situation.

“I understand the difficulty of the situation, because going to the clubs and accepting immediately the price tag, it’s is not so easy to do that.

“We see other options, we see if clubs want or don’t want to negotiate, but the market is open until August 31.”
