Nemanja Matic to Man Utd: Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich sanctions £50m move

CHELSEA have given the green light for Nemanja Matic to join Manchester United this summer.
Nemanja Matic has been linked with a move to Manchester United all summer but Chelsea were reluctant to let him join their rivals.

The Serbia international is said to be keen to leave Stamford Bridge following the arrival of Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco.

Fearing for his game time this season, the 28-year-old has been pushing for a reunion with Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.

And according to The Sun, the Blues have now okayed the deal and will allow the midfielder to pursue a move to United.
The report says Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich intervened and gave the green light for Matic to depart.

Abramovich is said to have given his blessing to the move as a reward for helping the club win the title twice in the last three seasons.

The Blues are reportedly asking for £50million for the midfielder who has been a key figure at the club since rejoining from Benfica in 2014.

The Stamford Bridge club are said to have already knocked back a £35m bid from United earlier this summer.
Inter Milan have reportedly also been showing an interest in the Serbian, but are unlikely to be able to compete financially with the Red Devils.
Relations were thought to be bad between United and Chelsea due to Romelu Lukaku’s surprise move to Old Trafford earlier this month.

The Blues had made the former Everton man their prime target, but they have instead snapped up Alvaro Morata and tensions have eased.

Matic made 40 appearances in all competitions last term, scoring two goals and providing nine assists.
