High life actress, Paulina Oduro, has disclosed she was working on a new album with highlife legend, Paapa Yankson before his demise Friday.
Paulina told Anita Erskine on Starr Drive that they were both preparing to go to the studio to work on the new album when the news of his demise got to her.
“It was really a shock for me this morning when I heard the news and on top of it all we were preparing to go to the studio to work on another lover amazing duet together, and this is too much of a shock, it was going to be an amazing album together,” Oduro opined.
She described the late Yankson as a very shy and grateful person.
“I’m glad to have known him and to have been part of his life. It was like a dream come true when I came to Ghana and joined the Western Diamond band and performed with Paapa Yankson on the same stage. He taught me a lot; how to behave, what to do, he helped me to write my highlife songs and I was really inspired by him”.
The 72-year-old highlife legend died in his Accra home on Friday, July 21.
The last time Paapa, as he was affectionately called, was seen in public was at the 2017 Vodafone Ghana Music awards where he picked the lifetime achievement award in March this year.
He was popular for songs such as; Wiase Mu Nsem, Show Your Love, Wo Yere Anaa Wo Maame, and Tena Menkyen.
