Adjorlolo, Osu Mantse honoured in Liberia

Veteran Actor Kofi Adjorlolo and the Osu Mantse , Nii Okwe Kinka Dowoana VI, who is also President of Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs have been honoured by the President and People of Liberia.
The celebrated award winning actor and former broadcaster was last Thursday presented with the international Golden Image award in Liberia by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
The award ceremony recognized individuals and institutions for excellence and dedication in their various endeavors and creating an impact on communities and in the society as a whole.
Under the theme “Let’s maintain the peace “, and commemorating 169/year of independence, the event, the 7th edition this year, took place in Monrovia at the Monrovia City Hall and was well attended by dignitaries from all over the world.




The Award has eight (8) categories. Education, Empowerment/ Development, Leadership, Democracy, Peace and Security, Health, Human Rights, and Creative Arts/Culture. Kofi Adjorlolo who is well known for his accomplishments and versatility in the art of film making and acting was cited for excellence in the creative arts category with special mention for promoting peace and unity through film making thereby creating a positive impact on society.
Dignitaries at the event included the Vice President of Liberia, Joseph Boakai, U.S Ambassador to Liberia, Christine Ann Elder, China Ambassador to Liberia, Zhang Yue, Farid Zarif Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nation among others.
Kofi Adjorlolo in his acceptance speech after receiving the award made a call on artistes especially in the West Africa region to work hard and enhance their roles and responsibilities in nation building, empowerment, and skill training programmes to accelerate cultural development.
He also expressed gratitude to President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for the honour bestowed on him by the government and people of Liberia.
Other recipient of the Golden Award were Michelle Obama, wife of the former President of USA, Dr. Ayisha Fofana Ibrahim of Gender Research and Documentation Institute, Fourah Bay College University of Sierra Leone, Nii Okwe Kinka Dowoana VI, Osu Mantse in Accra and President of Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, Mayor Clara Doe Mvogo Mayor of city of Monrovia, Boimah Kamara Finance Minister of Liberia, Yuo Haodong charge d’affaire, China Embassy in Liberia, and Elias Shoniyin, Deputy Minister Foreign Affairs of Liberia.
