Renato Sanches to Manchester United: Carlo Ancelotti admits move could happen

MANCHESTER UNITED can sign Renato Sanches this summer, concedes Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti.
Manchester United are interested in landing Sanches, having missed out on a deal for the winger last summer.

The Portugal international joined Bayern 12 months ago but failed to impress under Ancelotti last term.

Bayern have confirmed they are willing to let the player leave.

And Ancelotti says a move to United could happen.

When asked about the Red Devils’ interest in a press conference, he said: “At this time, he’s training with us. We have to make a decision.
“A move could be a possibility but there is also a chance he could stay with us for the season.”

Ancelotti’s answer comes after Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said Sanches is not guaranteed first-team football with the Bundesliga champions.

“He won’t get enough minutes at Bayern, so we’re willing to negotiate a loan deal and maybe beyond that,” he said.

“If a club are interested in a Bayern player, they must be ready to deal with significant economic figures. We’ll say that it wouldn’t be bad if a £43million offer came in for him.”

United manager Jose Mourinho has signed just two players this summer, spending £100m combined on Romelu Lukaku and Victor Lindelof.

The boss has lamented a lack of progress in deals, with Ivan Perisic on his wish list.
Mourinho is thought to have asked United to push for Sanches’ signature last year – before he was announced as their new manager.

But Bayern got there first, agreeing a £27.5m fee in May 2016.

“Manchester United made an offer. I think it was well known,” Sanches said at the time.

“But I had other offers as well.

“I chose Bayern Munich because it’s a great club. They have a 65,000 seater stadium and an atmosphere similar to Benfica. I’ll win titles.”
