We’ll crackdown on match fixers – DOLB

The chairman of the Division One League Board Owuahene Acheampong has said the board is committed to fighting the incidence of match fixing in the second tier league.
With just eight matches to the end of the 2016/17 GN Bank Division One League, issues of match fixing have resurfaced as top table clubs involved in the league are struggling to qualify to the elite level of Ghana football while those at the base of the log are also fighting fiercely to avoid relegation.

When asked if he is in the known of the issue, the football administrator told Starr Sports he had no idea but they (DOLB) are keeping a close eye on participating teams.
“Not to my knowledge, but these are hearsays, even in Europe it is perceived to be happening,” he told Starr Sports, adding “but nothing untoward had happened.”
“We are taking a closer look at all the teams at the various zones and will act swiftly if we find anything suspicious, the points build up between those at the top and ones at the base of the table is very close,” Acheampong opined.
