Nemanja Matic was confirmed as a Manchester United player yesterday, agreeing a three-year deal with the Red Devils.
And it seems the former Chelsea man has quickly found his feet at Old Trafford, making friends with goalkeeper David de Gea.
The Serbia international celebrated his 29th birthday today with the United shot-stopper who shared a snap of the pair on Twitter.
“Welcome to the Manchester United family and happy birthday Nemanja Matic,” De Gea wrote in the caption.
And it is not just off the field that Matic has begun to settle, as the midfielder has already set his sights on winning silverware with his new club.
Speaking yesterday in his first interview as a Red Devil, he said: “I think United can challenge for the Premier League title.
“This squad is very good, it is more mature, and they have already worked under Jose [Mourinho] for one year and know what they have to do.
“I’m sure this season we can do many things. We will try to win the Premier League and also the Champions League.”
And Moutinho was similarly delighted with the arrival of Matic, having worked with the midfielder previously at Stamford Bridge.
“Nemanja is a Manchester United player and a Jose Mourinho player,” he said.
“He represents everything we want in a footballer; loyalty, consistency, ambition, team player.
“I am sure our players and supporters will love him. A big welcome to our new number 31.”
