MANCHESTER UNITED are keeping tabs on Andre Gomes with his Barcelona future uncertain.
Jose Mourinho completed the signing of Nemanja Matic from Chelsea yesterday, but the Portuguese boss is keen to continue bolstering his midfield.
And he has now turned his attention to fellow countryman Gomes.
The 23-year-old only arrived at the Nou Camp last summer from Valencia but failed to hit the ground running under Luis Enrique during his debut campaign.
Gomes made 17 La Liga starts as he failed to cement a regular spot in the side, contributing just three goals and one assist.
The midfielder was even booed by his own fans on some occasions after a string of poor performances and that has led to questions being raised about his future at the club.
Barca are keen to raise funds this summer and Spanish publication Marca claim Gomes is the player the board are considering selling in order to do so.
They say the Catalan giants had hoped to cash in on Arda Turan but with few clubs showing interest they are now looking to put Gomes on the market.
And with Gomes’ future in doubt, The Sun say United could take advantage of the situation by offering him a way out.
Mourinho is thought to be a big fan of the former Valencia star and is monitoring developments.
It is unclear if Gomes would consider leaving Barca but he is a long-term admirer of Mourinho and the opportunity to work under him could tempt him to leave Spain.
Gomes remains under contract with Barca until 2021.
