My son saved me from spending GHC10,000 – Laryea Kingston

Former Black Stars midfielder, Mr. Laryea Kingston recently revealed how his ten-year-old son saved him from going on a spending spree that could end up leaving him bankrupt.

Mr. Laryea Kingston. a veteran Ghanaian footballer has had a great footballing career. Having started off in Ghana with Great Olympics, Laryea Kingston made his first international move to Tripoli, where he only played for four months.

Kingston later moved to Russia, although he finally came back to join Mr. Laryea Kingston, who was speaking on GHone TV sports show on Friday, revealed that his then ten-year-old son saved him from overspending and ending up completely.

Laryea Kingston related how he used to blow large sums of money by going out on spending sprees without much care about how.




He stated that sometimes he would head out and spend all the money he had on his person and be forced to return home just to pick up more money.

“I once put money into three ‘Ghana must Go’ bags and started spending them one by one. I carried the money in my car and spent two of those bags before my ten year old son told me, Daddy why are spending your money like that?” Said the former Black Stars player.

Laryea Kingston revealed that he was shook up when he heard his son’s question.

He said that that simple question alone helped him not go out that fateful day, and ended up saving him GHC10,000 (GHC100 million old Ghana cedis). I put off the engine and came back to the house and slept, then I realise I had just saved 100 million cedi one night. I was having hundred million to blow away but my son’s advice saved the money”, Laryea Kingston revealed.
