MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho has decided to keep Andreas Pereira and include him in their Champions League and Premier League squad lists.
Pereira spent last season on loan at La Liga side Granada and despite their relegation, the Brazilian playmaker was one of the few positives with five goals and three assists in 34 appearances.
Manchester United monitored the progress of the 21-year-old in Spain, receiving glowing reviews about the player and he has been rewarded with a prominent role during pre-season.
Pereira has appeared in every friendly for United and provided the assist for Romelu Lukaku’s header against Norwegian side Valerenga on Sunday.
And according to the Daily Record, Mourinho wants to keep Pereira at Old Trafford for the forthcoming season.
The report says Mourinho also sees Pereira’s value in providing a ‘home-grown’ and ‘club-trained’ player for domestic and UEFA competitions.
Pereira faces a battle to break into the United team on a regular basis but he has already outlined his determination to make an impact on the first-team this season.
“For me I think it is going well,” Pereira said last month.
”I am doing my best, I want to get into the team this season. I want to help my team and hopefully we can achieve a lot this season.
“It boosts me that the people here trust the young players. I am very happy for the young players and I want to be a part of this team as well.”
