Ghana’s 8-man team have arrived in London to compete at the 16th IAAF World Championships scheduled from August 4-13 at the Olympic Stadium in Stratford.
Ghana’s contingent comprises of high jumper Nadia Eke, Sprinters Alex Owusu, Janet Amponsah, Persis William-Mensah, Emmanuel Dasor, Akua Obeng Akrofi, Gemma Acheampong and Flings Owusu Agyapong.
The president of the Ghana Athletics Association president, Francis Dodoo is currently the only official with the team. The Sports ministry in collaboration with Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) supported the team with an amount of $84,600.

Meanwhile, an executive member of the Ghana athletics Association, Marc Dzradosie is optimistic these athletes could haul medals this time round.
“From my interactions with them, they all want to do well. Everybody goes into a competition with the aim of winning a medal and we hope they do so. As an association we are not putting pressure on them not to frustrate them so we expect the best from them,” he told Starr Sports.
