Bolt is preparing for life after Athletics with the Jamaican set to retire after the World Championships in London this month.
The 30-year-old will bow out as an eight-time Olympic champion, though that number would be nine had he not been stripped of a gold medal won in 2008.
That was through no fault of his own, with the decision coming after teammate Nesta Carter had tested positive for a banned substance.
Bolt is an avid Manchester United fan and has long harboured hopes of joining the Red Devils after his career on the track comes to an end.
And the Jamaican says he thinks Jose Mourinho may approach him – but will wait until the last day of the transfer window.
“Everyone knows I’m always talking about [playing] football, I’m waiting on a call from Mourinho,” Bolt said.
“I think he’s waiting until the last day [of the transfer window].”
Speaking last month, Bolt urged Mourinho to re-sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The 35-year-old scored 28 goals after arriving from Paris Saint-Germain last year, but was released after sustaining a serious knee injury.
Talk has been rife, however, that he could be about to return – and Bolt would love for a deal to go through.
“For me, I will go with Zlatan,” he said when asked whether himself or the veteran should be signed.
“Zlatan is one of the greatest hands down.
“For me he really did great for United last season so if we get a chance to sign him back I would go with Zlatan.”
