Mauricio Pochettino believes new Chelsea signing Alvaro Morata rejected the chance to join Tottenham because he didn’t want to play second-fiddle to Harry Kane.

“When we spoke he said to me, ‘Why do you want me if you have Harry Kane?’”, Pochettino said.

“You know? If I go to try to sign a striker, they will all say, ‘Uh, gaffer. You want me for what? To be on the bench? Because it’s Harry Kane, I can’t compete with Harry Kane’ or [at other positions] Hugo Lloris or Christian Eriksen.”

While Alexis Sanchez has returned to Arsenal training following his extended break after the Confederations Cup.

The Gunners man trained alone at London Colney on Tuesday as his future at the club remains uncertain.




Manchester United have agreed a £27million move to sign Paris Saint-Germain right-back Serge Aurier, according to the Daily Mirror.

However, the Ivory Coast international is currently banned from entering the UK after he was found guilty of assaulting a police officer in Paris last year.

Manchester United are now said to be seeking clearance from the government before completing the deal.
