Join corruption fight – Rawlings to musicians

Former president Jerry John Rawlings has asked musicians to use their songs as a major tool in the fight against corruption and other social ills.
Addressing a delegation of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) and the family of high life legend Paapa Yankson, who paid a courtesy call on him, Mr. Rawlings said President Akufo-Addo needs everyone’s support in the war against corruption.

“Just as Paapa Yankson used his talent to sing about social ills and issues of concern to the Ghanaian society, the current crop of musicians should also be at the forefront of the fight against corruption,” Rawlings noted.
He added that issues of sanitation and health should be of major concern to musicians and other members of the creative arts sector, adding they should use their skills and voices to drive social change.
Rev Dr. Thomas Yawson, who led the MUSIGA delegation, informed the ex-President the one-week celebration of the late Yankson will be held Friday, August 4, 2017 in Dansoman, Accra.
He thanked Rawlings for the warm welcome accorded the delegation.
