Tamale: Police storm home of NDC Executive

Police at Tamale have confirmed carrying out a search at the private home of the Northern regional director of elections of the opposition National Democratic Congress party, Rashid Tanko Computer, after he allegedly threatened a TV host with a gun following a misunderstanding over a woman.
The suspect is also former a regional director of the Youth Employment Agency.
Police said Rashid Tanko, who is married, he is currently being investigated for besieging the home of the presenter with a gun in the company of two unidentified others and threatening him with murder for having affair with his girlfriend.
The police source did not disclose the identity of the said girlfriend but local a media which first reported the incident identified the lady as one Samira Seidu, a known NDC party fanatic who played a major role campaigning for the party on social media in the last elections.
Speaking to Starr News, the Northern Regional police public relations officer ASP Mohammed Yussif Tanko said the incident happened on Sunday at about 9 pm.
According to ASP Yussif, police received a complaint about the incident on Monday, August 1,2017 after the victim came to allege that the NDC executive had attacked him with a gun over his relationship with a lady, who he said was his girlfriend.




He added that Tanko computer was invited to the station where his statement was taken and later released on enquiry bail. He said the suspect denied the allegations and a team of investigators who raided his home and rummaged through his belongings did not find a gun but indicated investigations were still underway.
Local media also reported that Mr Computer seized mobile phone of the TV presenter and warned his mother to advise him to stay away from his lover who he had noticed putting up strange attitude including ignoring his phone calls and skipping their regular romantic outings.
Starr News has reached out to Samira Seidu for comment and has not yet received a response.
Rashid Tanko, however, responded to Starr New’s request for reaction saying it was a concoction to divert pressure on government and described the story as “rubbish”.
“It’s a makeup story; Forget of them. It’s a mischievous thing. What kind of rubbish is that? When you say someone has threatened someone with a gun, that’s a lie. I’m even in Accra in a meeting; ignore them, just ignore them. They just want to make some news. I’m sure this our business, they just want to divert some pressure from the government, they bring up certain things. Ignore them”, Computer parried.
