2016 Ghana’s Most Beautiful enrolls teen mothers in school

The 2016 Ghana’s Most Beautiful finalist Dora Badu-Agyeampong has embarked on a project to enroll teenage mothers in school.
The project dubbed “Help a Girl Foundation” was launched in Accra on Saturday. In attendance were the Chief of Juaso and director at the Communications Ministry Nana Asafoakaa Agyei Tabi I, daughter of former president John Agyekum Kufuor, Nana Ama Kufuor and the 2011 Ghana’s most beautiful winner Sally Akua Amoakoaa Mensah.
The Help a Girl Foundation will commence in September where 70 teenage mothers are expected to be enrolled in school. Forty of them will be sponsored through Junior High School and 30 in the SHS.




Speaking to Starr News, Badu-Agyeampong said the initiative is to give life back to helpless teenage mothers who are between the ages of 11-19 years.
“With this project, I told myself to do it whether I win Ghana’s Most Beautiful or not. Most of the young ladies when they give birth at an early age, feel their dreams are shuttered and their educational life are blurred with no prospect in the future. But I think it is not supposed to be. That prompted me to come out with this project to help get these girls back to school and to realise their dreams,” she noted.
She believes the project will also help curb child marriage.
“Not only will this go a long way to minimize illiteracy rate, but will also help with the national advocacy by the ministry of gender that is ending child marriages.”
